VirtueDesktops 0.52r175
21 07 2006What’s changed?
- Growl support
- Revised (but not finished) desktop picture code
- Users no longer need to be a member of the procmod group to use VirtueDesktops — the application now asks for an administrative username and password if the correct permissions are not available for cross-process control on intel machines (this still requires refinement in terms of the UI - I certainly don’t like apps that mysteriously ask me for my username and password with no explanation)
- Lots of other fixes
Known issues
- This build is likely to be buggy. Please report issues as you find them (but search first!)
- Documentation. Still. I’m working on it, I promise!
- Anyone using a build of VirtueDesktops prior to 0.52r128 will need to manually update to this build.
- Please use VirtueTrac to search for any issues they may be having, and to report any new problems.

I have 0.52 (155) and I’m trying to use the update function, but it just gives me an error which says…
“Update Error!
An error occurred in retrieving update information; are you connected to the internet? Please try again later.”
Needless to say, I am connected. I’m going to update manually, but I thought you’d like to know anyhow.

Whow, that “Switch on Motion Sensor” is great. However, at my Macbook, I can’t get it to stay at the desktop it switches to. No matter how I tilt, hit, turn or move the computer, it may change to another desktop, but switches back immediately.
Maybe a simple 0.5s delay could give some help here? I’d love to see some more fine-grained configuration in your next release …
The “check for updates” feature doesn’t appear to be working. I’ve upgrade to 175 and it’s still a gonner. Thought you should know!

This piece of software has changed how I use my computer. Thanks!
Yo just a heads up…I love the motion sensor, but it’s a bit buggy (heiko mentioned one of the problems I’ve been having). Also, if I tilt my MacBook up or tap it forwards, it doesn’t switch the the upper rows. At all. That’s it though. This is my first time using Virtue Desktops and I am simply blown away. Keep up the great work.
